În 1966, NYSE începe un indice compozit al tuturor acțiunilor comune listate. Acesta este denumit „Common Stock Index” și este transmis zilnic. Punctul de pornire al indicelui este 50. Ulterior, acesta este redenumit NYSE Composite Index.
