Thomaskantor

1723'te Bach, Leipzig'deki Thomaskirche'de (St. Thomas Kilisesi) bulunan Thomasschule'nin Kantoru olan Thomaskantor olarak atandı. Bu görev, şehirdeki dört kilise için müzik sağlıyordu: Thomaskirche ve Nikolaikirche (St. Nicholas Kilisesi) ve daha az ölçüde Neue Kirche (Yeni Kilise) ve Peterskirche (St. Peter Kilisesi).
