What happened 1772 AD

In 1772, brothers Andrew Ellicott, John Ellicott and Joseph Ellicott moved from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and bought land along the Patapsco Falls near Banneker's farm on which to construct gristmills, around which the village of Ellicott's Mills (now Ellicott City) subsequently developed. The Ellicotts were Quakers and shared the same views on racial equality as did many of their faith. Banneker studied the mills and became acquainted with their proprietors.

The human plague is reported intermittently in the Chinese province of Yunnan, where the third plague pandemic would begin in the 1860s.

In late October Mozart and Leopold left for Milan and arrived in early November. Their reason for traveling was to begin rehearsals for the new opera commissioned the year before.t was called Lucio Silla, and it was released on Boxing Day. Initially it performed really well, notching up 20 performances in its first month.

The Italian historian Durastante Natalucci passed away at the age of 84.
