W 2002 roku Gardner otrzymał nagrodę Ojca Roku (Father of the Year Award) od NFI. Otrzymał również 25. doroczną nagrodę humanitarną od Los Angeles Commission on Assaults Against Women (LACAAW) oraz nagrodę Friends of Africa Award 2006 od Continental Africa Chamber of Commerce.
