Barings Banks

Nick Leeson, a senior trader works at Baring Banks in the Singapore office was living a high life in 1992, as he was making over £50k a year. Later that year he used one of the bank’s errored accounts to hide his losses, He then made a series of risky trades and reached losses of $1.4 Billion in 1995. Leeson was charged and found guilty as later was sentenced to 6.5 years of prison. Later that year Baring was sold for £1 for the Dutch bank ING. In 1999, Leeson was starred by Ewan McGregor In in biopic Rougeau trader which was based on Leeson's book in 1996.
