What happened 535 AD

Justinian founded Justiniana Prima not far from his birthplace.

In 535, Justinian focussed towards Italy, which was under a very weak rule and a usurper was sitting on the throne while kidnapping the royal queen.

In 535, a small Byzantine expedition to Sicily met with easy success, but the Goths soon stiffened their resistance.

The conquest occurred in two phases. The first invasion was conducted around 535 BCE by Cyrus the Great, who founded the Achaemenid Empire.

After a 44-year reign, Servius was killed in a conspiracy by his daughter Tullia and her husband Lucius Tarquinius Superbus.
